Distances & Categories

1. Ultra 300+ (300+ km) – The Double Park Traverse:

This is the crown jewel of the event. A massive, continuous journey connecting two National Parks. You will navigate through ancient forests, open marshlands, and sandy eskers.

  • Highlight: Running through the silence of both Petkeljärvi and Patvinsuo National Parks in one go.
  • For whom: Elite ultra-runners and survivalists seeking a ”once in a lifetime” experience.
2. Perus 180+ (180+ km) – The Wilderness Classic:

A true test of endurance (”Perus” meaning ”Basic”, tongue-in-cheek). This route offers a comprehensive tour of the North Karelian wilds, featuring long sections of technical trails and duckboards.

  • Highlight: Deep immersion in the diverse landscapes between the parks.
  • For whom: Experienced endurance athletes looking for a 100-mile+ challenge.
3. Maisema 50+ (50+ km) The ”Scenic Route”:

A full-length ultra marathon that captures the spirit of the region. Enjoy the most beautiful sections of the trails without the multi-day commitment.

  • For whom: Ultra-runners wanting a beautiful and runnable challenge.
4. Petkeljärvi 19.5 km

Run through the heart of Petkeljärvi National Park. This route follows the famous narrow ridges formed during the Ice Age, surrounded by glittering lakes on both sides.

5. Kuikan 10 km

An accessible route named after the ”Kuikka” (Black-throated loon). Experience the trail atmosphere on a shorter loop near the event centre.

Arrival The event centre is at the Ilomantsi Sports Centre. Nearest travel hub: Joensuu (Airport & Railway station, approx. 75 km away).

Accommodation We recommend booking accommodation early in Ilomantsi or nearby villages.Mandatory Gear For safety in the wilderness, mandatory gear is strictly enforced for the 300+, 180+, and 50+ km distances.
